Gibbler runs the open-source @imgly/background-removal library in your browser, so the image is processed on your device and is not uploaded to a Gibbler server. The tool is free, needs no signup, and keeps the job on the device you are using. You can start with an ordinary photo rather than preparing a special file format. The input choices are the familiar PNG, JPG, and WebP formats, and the final download is a PNG with transparency. That is the whole path from source image to cutout.

The first run takes longer because the AI model files have to download from a CDN. A progress bar shows that work, so a pause at the start does not mean your image has disappeared into a void. Once processing finishes, ORIGINAL and OUTPUT appear side by side. You can compare the cutout with the source before saving anything. Automatic edges can miss a strand of hair or keep a bit of the old background; the comparison makes those slips easier to spot.

If an edge needs help, open EDIT. Use ERASE to remove leftover background or RESTORE to bring back part of the image. A brush-size slider lets you adjust the brush from its 30 px default. Press DONE when you are satisfied, then SAVE to download a transparent PNG named no-background.png. RESET starts over with another image. This is a single-image workflow: there is no batch mode, background replacement, colour fill, or API. It does the cutout and gives you a transparent file to use elsewhere. If the automatic result is already clean, you can skip the brush. If it is close but not quite right, the manual tools let you correct the visible edge before downloading.

Worked example

Say you have a product photo with a cluttered desk behind it. Pick the JPG and press REMOVE BG. On your first visit, wait while the model files download; the progress bar shows the wait. Compare ORIGINAL and OUTPUT side by side. If a piece of desk remains, use EDIT and ERASE; if the brush took part of the product, use RESTORE. Adjust the brush size for tighter edges, press DONE, and SAVE the transparent no-background.png file.
