Free Image Resizer
Free · no signup · runs entirely in your browser
Open the tool →You have a photo that is far too big for the form, the forum avatar slot or the email that keeps bouncing. This image resizer fixes exactly that and nothing else: pick a picture, type the pixel size you need, press a button, save the result. No account, no watermark, no trial that quietly expires.
The part worth knowing is where the work happens. The resizing runs in your browser, on your own machine. Your picture is read locally, redrawn on a canvas at the new size and handed back to you as a download. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so a photo of your passport, your kid or your cat's embarrassing haircut stays where it is.
Here is what you actually get. You can drag an image onto the page or click to choose one. The tool reads the original size and fills in the width and height boxes for you. A LOCK RATIO checkbox is ticked by default, so when you change the width the height follows and the picture does not come out squashed. Untick it if you really do want a stretched image. You then choose the output format: PNG, JPEG or WebP. JPEG and WebP are saved at a fixed high quality of 92 percent, and PNG is lossless. There is no quality slider, which keeps things simple and means you cannot accidentally ruin the image.
You see the original and the resized version side by side with their dimensions, and a SAVE button appears once the result is ready. The file downloads as resized.png, resized.jpg or resized.webp. A RESET button clears everything so you can start on the next one.
It does one job, one image at a time. It does not crop, rotate or batch-process a folder of two hundred holiday photos. For a quick, private resize it is hard to beat.
How to use it
- Drop your image onto the page or click the box to choose a PNG, JPG or WebP file. The original size is filled in for you.
- Type a new width or height in pixels. Leave LOCK RATIO ticked so the other number updates and the picture keeps its proportions, then pick PNG, JPEG or WebP as the output format.
- Press RESIZE, check the output preview next to the original, then press SAVE to download resized.png, resized.jpg or resized.webp.
Worked example
Say you have a phone photo of 4000 x 3000 pixels and a website that wants something around 800 pixels wide. Drop the file in and the boxes show 4000 and 3000. With LOCK RATIO on, type 800 in the width box and the height jumps to 600. Choose WEBP as the format, press RESIZE, and the preview shows an 800x600 version. Press SAVE and you get resized.webp, saved at 92 percent quality, a fraction of the original file size. If you wanted a JPEG instead, switch the format before you resize and you get resized.jpg.
FAQ
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is read and resized inside your browser using a canvas, and the result is generated on your own device. The tool does not send your file to a server.
Which formats can I save as?
PNG, JPEG or WebP, chosen from the FORMAT menu. PNG is lossless. JPEG and WebP are saved at a fixed quality of 92 percent. There is no quality slider.
How do I keep the picture from getting squashed?
Leave LOCK RATIO ticked, which is the default. When you change the width the height is recalculated from the original proportions, and the other way round. Untick it only if you want to set both sizes freely.
Can I resize many images at once?
No. It handles one image at a time. Press RESET when you are done and load the next one. It also does not crop or rotate.
