You get six live stats: words, characters, characters without spaces, sentences, paragraphs, and estimated reading time. No Count button to press, no page reload, no waiting — the figures move while your fingers do. Handy when you're writing to a hard limit and want to see the count creep toward it rather than discover you're 200 words over at the end.

Reading time is worked out at 200 words per minute, which is a fair average for an adult reading ordinary prose, and it rounds up. Treat it as a ballpark. Dense technical writing reads slower, a listicle reads faster, and nobody has ever read anything at exactly the average speed.

The characters-with-spaces and characters-without-spaces split exists because different places count differently. Social platforms and SMS count every character including spaces. Some translation and copywriting rates are quoted per character excluding them. Rather than argue about which is correct, the tool just shows both.

All of it runs client-side in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, never stored, and never sent anywhere — it lives in the tab and dies with it. So paste the unpublished novel, the confidential memo, the draft resignation letter. It goes nowhere. There's no server processing it because there is no server involved at all.

How is reading time calculated?

At an average of 200 words per minute, rounded up to the next whole minute. It's an estimate — dense or technical text will take longer than the figure suggests.

Is my text uploaded or saved anywhere?

No. The counting happens entirely in your browser, so the text is never uploaded, never stored and never sent to a server. Closing the tab discards it.

What counts as a sentence or a paragraph?

Sentences are split on standard end punctuation, and paragraphs on blank-line breaks between blocks of text. Unusual formatting or heavy abbreviation use can nudge those counts slightly.

Is there a limit on how much text I can paste?

The tool imposes no length limit, so you can paste anything from a tweet to a full manuscript. Very large documents depend on your browser and device to stay responsive.
